Janesville Women's History Mural Announced
(March 15, 2010)
After three downtown murals featuring male central figures, a fourth mural is in the works focusing on the accomplishments of women. The new Janesville Women’s History Mural will celebrate the role of women in making Janesville a better community during the period 1860 to 1890. The project is co-sponsored by the Janesville Design & Development Center and the Friends of Judi Kneece.
Artists are being sought for the project. The deadline for artist submissions is Friday, April 23.
The mural is scheduled to be dedicated in memory of community leader Judi Kneece on Thursday, August 26, 2010, Women's Equality Day.

Murals Coming to Downtown Janesville!
(February 13, 2009)
It's about history...It's about vision...It's about Janesville. It's the Heart of the City Outdoor Art Campaign, celebrating the heritage of Janesville through public art. The first phase of the campaign, "Seeds of Success," will bring three large-scale murals to the downtown. Each mural celebrates one of the first three decades in the life of the community, 1830-1860, when working people and visionary leaders built Janesville into an agricultural and industrial center. Celebrate the sweat, power and grit of those early citizens. Support the Heart of the City Outdoor Art Campaign.
